Parent Polls
Privacy notice
This notice explains what information the Parents Association of Bayside Schools (PABS) collects when you answer a poll on this site, why, and how long it is kept.
Who we are
Parents Association of Bayside Schools runs this polling site to consult parents and guardians of Bayside Junior School and Bayside Senior School. You can contact us atpabsbaysideschool@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your answers to the poll's questions, and the date and time you submitted them.
- Any comments you choose to write. Please don’t include names or other personal details about yourself, your children or anyone else.
- A random browser identifier in a cookie, so the same browser can’t answer the same poll twice (see below).
We don’t ask for your name, email address, phone number or your children’s names, and you don’t need an account. Because a browser identifier and comments can sometimes relate to a person, we treat responses as personal data rather than calling them anonymous.
The duplicate-prevention cookie
When you submit a poll, the site stores one cookie called pabs_browser in your browser. It contains a random value, not your name or any details about you. It is sent only to this site’s poll service, lasts one year, and can’t be read by other websites or by this site’s pages. We store only a scrambled version of it with your response, which can’t be matched across different polls.
It only stops repeat answers from the same browser. Another browser or device, a private window, or clearing your cookies would allow another response, so results are indicative and are not a verified count of households. No cookie is set until you submit, and we use no analytics or advertising cookies.
How we use it and who sees it
Responses are used to understand parents’ and guardians’ views on the question being asked. Only members of the PABS committee, who sign in with their committee email address, can see individual responses and comments, and can download them for analysis.
For some polls the committee may publish overall results, either after the poll closes or to people who have answered. Published results only ever show overall totals and percentages, never comments or individual responses, and are withheld when too few people have answered to keep them anonymous.
The site runs on Cloudflare, which stores the data for us and keeps short-lived technical logs to run and protect the service.
How long we keep it
Individual responses and comments are deleted automatically 12 months after a poll closes. We may keep the poll’s questions and overall totals after that. Any copies the committee downloaded before then are kept only as long as needed for the consultation and then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us about the information we hold, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailingpabsbaysideschool@gmail.com. Because we don’t know who submitted which response, we may not be able to find yours unless you can tell us enough to identify it, such as the poll and the wording of a comment. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
